Power Rankings

As of 9th March, 2011

Team of the Week: Lakers - 1 word: Unstopable
Loser of the Week: Miami - Lost 5 straight and allowed 33 3-pointers in 2 games (that's 99 points from 3-pointers alone - I mean, come on!)

46-19 (3rd in West)

Moved up from #5 to #1. Why? Eight game win streak and wins over the Hawks and #1 Spurs (in San Antonio. The Lakers have not lost a game since the All Star Break. Rightfully so, they are the team to beat. Furthermore, NBA.com agrees with me.

46-15 (1st in East)

The Celtics are the silent assassins of the season. They beat who they need to beat and get the job done. The Celts are on a 5 game win streak and still hold the top spot in the East.

 51-12 (1st in West)

The Spurs lost to the Lakers and, therefore, dropped to #3. No biggie, if they keep playing the way they do, they'll find no problem going back up to the 1 spot. They are 7-3 in their last 10; not too great for a team that is 51-12. This is not a good time for slip ups.

.
44-18 (2nd in East)

The Bulls are doing great. They are 8-2 in their last 10 and are on a 3 game win streak. Morever, they swept the Heat (which I guess is not too hard these days) and you need to give them credit for their high level of play. Why are they 4th? Lakers and Celtics are playing slightly better than the Bulls and San Antonio boasts a higher record.

46-17 (2nd in West)

The Mavs have been a great team for most of the season and held a solid win streak until Z-Bo and Memphis got a W in a thriller. The Mavs are an on and off team but need consistency if they wish to make it far in the playoffs. The reason for their #2 spot in the West is the inconsistency throughout the other teams in the West: Denver and Utah were both involved in big trades, Lakers and Thunder both went through losing streaks.

Honorable Mention (In no particular Order):

Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets

Every week, the Power Rankings will be posted based on how teams have performed over the course of the season, with emphasis on the last week of play. The top 5 teams will be ranked along with a reason for their ranking. There will also be honorable mentions for teams who barely missed the top 5.Note: These Power Rankings are in no way official and are just an unbiased opinion. No one is meant to take offense.
